How much does alloy wheel refurbishment cost in the UK? (2026 prices)
Per-wheel and full-set prices for standard, diamond cut and powder coated wheels — and what makes the price go up or down.
By the Infinity Wheelz team · Updated 18 October 2026 · 5 min read

Alloy wheel refurbishment prices in the UK range from around £60 per wheel for a basic painted repair to £150+ for a diamond cut wheel at a main dealer. The spread is wide because "refurbishment" covers everything from a 40-minute mobile touch-up to a full strip, repair and powder coat in an oven. This guide explains what you should expect to pay in 2026 and what actually drives the price.

What makes the price go up
- Wheel size — anything over 19" needs more material, more time in the blast cabinet and a bigger oven slot.
- Diamond cut faces — these need a CNC lathe, which only proper workshops have. Painted wheels do not.
- Damage — a deep kerb gouge, a crack that needs welding or a buckle that needs straightening are extra operations.
- Finish — standard gloss and satin colours are cheapest; candy, chrome-effect and two-tone finishes cost more.
- Split rims and polished lips — labour-heavy and quoted individually.
What should be included
When you compare quotes, check what is in the price. A proper refurbishment includes tyre removal and refitting, balancing, new valves, chemical stripping, media blasting, repairs, powder primer, colour and lacquer. If a quote is much cheaper than the others, something on that list is usually missing — most often the strip and the oven, which is exactly what makes a finish last.
Mobile repair vs workshop refurbishment
Mobile repairs are quick and convenient for a light scuff on one wheel. The technician sands the damage, fills it, sprays a colour match and lacquers it on the driveway. It looks good on the day, but the wheel has not been stripped and the paint has not been cured, so it is prone to chipping and peeling within a year. A workshop refurbishment costs more because the wheel is taken back to bare alloy and rebuilt with powder coat. If you plan to keep the car for more than a year, the workshop finish is cheaper over its life.
Is it worth refurbishing before selling or returning a lease?
Yes, almost every time. Lease companies charge £100–£200 per damaged wheel at return, and private buyers knock far more than the cost of a refurbishment off a car with scruffy alloys. A [£300] set refurbishment on a lease return typically saves double that in charges.

FAQ
Related questions
Is it cheaper to refurbish or replace alloy wheels?
Refurbishing is almost always cheaper. A single OEM replacement wheel on a modern German car is typically £300–£600, against [£75–£125] to refurbish it.
Why do quotes vary so much?
Mobile repairers quote low because they only do a cosmetic touch-up. A workshop price includes stripping, repairs, powder coating and curing, which is a different job with a different lifespan.
